Channable: 77% of merchants score low on Google AI shopping readiness

Channable scored the product feeds of 9,689 companies on its platform against the data Google’s AI shopping features use. Of those, 77% stayed below 60 out of 100, and fewer than 1% reached the 80 points Channable treats as fully optimised.

What Channable measured

On 30 September 2026, feed platform Channable presented an AI Readiness Audit at its online event, the IMPACT cube. The tool checks whether a product feed holds the data Google’s AI shopping surfaces, such as AI Mode and Gemini, rely on, and scores it out of 100. In a first analysis of 9,689 companies on the platform, 77% scored below 60, which Channable reads as key product information being missing, incomplete or inconsistent. Fewer than 1% reached 80 points, Channable’s threshold for data that is fully optimised for AI agents. Its website puts the middle group at 22%.

How to read the numbers

The score is Channable’s own method, weighted by Google’s guidance on which product data AI experiences use, and the sample covers only its customers. So this is not a market survey. It does show where feeds fall short. Channable says even the middle group has its basic data in order but lacks attributes that give AI systems context for conversational queries. Google has added six optional fields of this kind to Merchant Center, among them question-and-answer pairs, links to PDF manuals, related products and a popularity rank. Because they are optional, Merchant Center shows no error when they are empty, and products stay approved.

What sellers can do now

Start with your best-selling products. Check that price and availability in the feed match reality, then add the questions buyers ask in reviews and support requests. Link manuals or size charts, and mark accessories or spare parts as related products. For the popularity rank, use your own sales figures. Google accepts these fields through a supplemental data source, so the main feed can stay unchanged. Channable’s audit is one way to find the gaps: customers run it inside the platform, and the company offers a free score check after sign-up.

A feed only shows correct availability if the stock figure behind it is right. At TREEBERG in Nordhorn, incoming goods are booked into stock within 48 hours of arrival, and orders, stock, shipments and returns are visible in the THub dashboard.
