Shopify Payments processed $78.1bn in Q2 2026, 68% of all sales
From April to June 2026, $78.1bn ran through Shopify Payments, 68% of all sales on Shopify. In Europe, the share rose by more than 3.5 percentage points in a year.
The second-quarter numbers
Shopify published its second-quarter results on 5 August 2026. From April to June, merchants sold $115.6bn worth of goods on the platform, 32% more than a year earlier. Shopify Payments, the company’s own payment service, processed 68% of that volume, or $78.1bn. A year earlier the share was 64% and the volume $56.6bn. International GMV grew 37%, according to the company.
CFO Jeff Hoffmeister gave two figures for Europe. GMV there rose 34% in constant currency, and the share paid through Shopify Payments climbed by more than 350 basis points, or over 3.5 percentage points, even though many European countries only got the service in 2025. In the second quarter Shopify added the United Arab Emirates, bringing the total to 40 countries. It also keeps adding local payment methods, most recently in Mexico.
Who can use Shopify Payments
Eligibility depends on where the business is located. The service is available in every EU member state except Slovakia, plus the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Gibraltar. Stores that use an external payment provider pay Shopify a transaction fee on top of the provider’s own charges, at a rate that depends on the plan. Orders paid through Shopify Payments don’t carry that fee.
What sellers should check now
First, confirm that your country of business is on the list and compare the fees with what your current provider charges. Then open the payment settings in your Shopify admin and see which local methods are switched on for your main markets, such as BLIK in Poland or Bancontact in Belgium. Shopify shows them at checkout based on where the shopper is.
